The lure head alone is 4 ½” long, the skirted lure is 20” long, and the whole package weighs almost a pound and a half. The 1 7/8” skirt saddles take 16” skirts.
As mentioned, this lure is so old, there is no label. It is from the 70’s or 80’s at least. Note the quote from Joe Yee on page Page 133:
“I never used to label my stuff. No use. I made lures 20 years with no labels. Why Label? But they all keep saying, ‘Joe, label your lures’. Yama kept getting after me, ‘Joe label your lures’. So, I finally decide to label my lures. I think it was late 70’s or early 80’s but I don’t remember the year exactly.”
This lure was purchased either directly from Joe in his shop or from Eric White – in which case, it still would have come directly from Joe’s shop. It has never been fished. PLEASE NOTE there is a small chip in the front face on the edge of the scoop. We made this VERY evident in the photos. This chip just came from 30 or 40 years (yes, its that old) of banging around in Joe’s shop or being in storage. It has never been fished and is in otherwise perfect condition.
Of the several hundred Yee lures Dan owns and used to write the book, he only has 2 big scoops … and this is the only Fish Head.
This is a Yee Collection Centerpiece if there ever was one.
