The 501 is a 12” plunger with a larger face surface area than the Apollo or Medium Plunger, and tends to make a bit more racket on the surface. It has long been a favorite of our friends in Australia and New Zealand.
You don’t find these laying around in tackle shops anymore. This lure was purchased as part of a small collection from a gentleman who lived and fished in Hawaii in the 70’s and 80’s. He would occasionally go buy a Yee, but just put them on display or stored them and never put his ‘Collector Yees’ in the water.
You can see in the many photos shown that this Yee is in beautiful condition. We left the original skirts on it that it came with and they look pretty darn good for their age. They would fish just fine if you wanted to put this lure in the water.
You can read more about the 501 on page 37 of the book “Joe Yee and His Lures”. Joe’s authentic label is on the bottom of the head, which you can compare on page 135.
Please Note! The book shown in the photos is NOT part of this sale: it is only used for reference
This lure head is guaranteed authentic, old and unfished and the head is in pristine condition.
